I worked at the Commonwheel Artists Gallery all day.
I prefer to do one long day a month rather than two half days.
Although I got a lot of computer work done, very few people came into the Gallery, and no one bought anything!!!
That is not a normal day for me.
I easily engage people in conversation, and usually someone in their group will purchase something before leaving. But not today.
I don’t think I had 30 people come in, so I guess the odds were not with me. Though one of the couples from Michigan left saying they had to think about a couple of things thye liked, and they were here until Sunday. So they may be back to buy when I am not working.
When I asked one group of three if they were visiting and they said yes, I asked if they were from Michigan. I had had 3 other sets of visitors from Michigan, so was just joking around. Except they said yes, how did I know? Just a wild guess, I replied, as 3 other groups that were here earlier were from Michigan.
I did get a couple to sign up for our email newsletter. Plus some local people who had brought visitors said that they will be sure to come for the 40th Anniversary Gallery show and wanted to know where the Art Festival will be held. One couple told me that enjoyed the park where it had moved to last year, so that was a nice thing to hear, as it will be there again..
So got lots of work done for that gallery show and some Festival tasks completed.
I had started the day by finding the hanging signs that have pictures of artists in the shop that hadn’t been hung back up since Holiday Market went up. The hooks were challenging to get onto the proper hooks, as a rope lighting had been hung using these hooks also. But I got all three hanging up and an new FantaFaces Mask picture inviting people to come buy a mask for Manitou Springs Carnivale.
Plus the shared jewelry case looked really naked with the jewelry just on the wooden bottom. I found some tiles and got them to fit well enough to give a bit more interest to the case and added a couple of my feather pendants to give it some variation from the metal work that was placed there by other jewelers.
So I put some time into making the Gallery look better, which felt good and productive.
And my friend who is helping with the advertising stopped by with her delightful mother who is getting ready to move here. We had a lovely conversation. When she moves here, my friend and I will make a date to play Rummikub some future evenings. I actually have that game and used to play it with my parents all the time.
Came home and all I wanted to do was have popcorn for dinner and watch Survivor’s first episode that was 2 hours long. That show is my “guilty pleasure” that I share with a couple of friends. We always have a dinner together and watch the final episode.
The “Last Call” email I sent out to Old Spokes is getting lots of response. I guess setting a really short deadline helped.
Plus some folks who are showing that responded to a different email replied that they could help by offering to bring food to the opening night and another offered to help proof the information I will be putting into the Scrapbook.
Getting me a bit more excited now.
